The Athletic's Phil Hay has addressed the fact that Leeds United's financial records for the 2018/19 season "are due now" with the Gov.uk website showing they will be available to the public in five days' time.

Last season was the first under Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa and saw Leeds narrowly miss out on promotion to the Premier League.

A late-season slump in form saw the Whites drop out of the top two and subsequently lose to Derby County in the play-offs.

Leeds director Victor Orta spoke passionately about the impact of financial fair play in the summer as all EFL clubs look to ensure they're operating within the profitability and sustainability guidelines.

The Athletic's Phil Hay revealed on Twitter yesterday that the club's financial records for the 2018/19 were due now.

Today, the gov.uk website showed that the accounts for up to the 30th of June 2019 have been submitted and are being processed.

According to the site, they will be available in five days' time.

Football Insider has reported that it is expected the records will show the turnover at the club has increased to be higher than £45 million and near the £50 million mark.

The statement for the 2017/18 season showed turnover of £40.7 million and a loss for the financial year of £4.3 million.

The Yorkshire club will no doubt be hoping that this season will see them promoted to the Premier League, which would provide them with a major financial boost.

The Verdict

It is going to be very interesting to see the statements for last season.

Under Bielsa, Leeds certainly stepped things up a notch and after falling short of promotion have had to do so again this term.

You'd expect their turnover to grow and then grow again for the current campaign.
