Derby County today confirmed the signing of Peterborough United goal machine Jack Marriott on a three-year deal and for an undisclosed fee.

The striker scored 33 goals in 56 games for the Posh last season and becomes Frank Lampard's fourth signing of the summer.

A fee was finally agreed between the two clubs on Tuesday evening leading to Marriott being pulled from the starting lineup of Peterborough's friendly against Gainsborough minutes before kick-off.

The deal is thought to be worth up to £5million with a large chunk of that coming in add-ons, meaning Marriott joins the likes of Craig Mackail-Smith, Dwight Gayle, Aaron McLean and Britt Assombalonga as strikers to be sold for large fees by the Posh.

The 23-year-old joins wingers Harry Wilson and Florian Jozefzoon as well as attacking midfielder Mason Mount at Pride Park.

But will Marriott be able to continue his form in the Championship and prove to be a good signing for the Rams?

We discuss...

George Dagless

I think so.

There's always going to be some risk when a player comes up from the lower leagues but Marriott deserves his chance.

It's not too expensive a deal so it's worth the punt.

Marriott is, of course, unproven at Championship level but he certainly has the potential to be a superb signing.

At 23, he is still so young and has a lot of scope for improvement.

And if he can replicate his goal scoring form from last season, then Derby have a potential 20+ goal striker.

Jay Taylor

The former Peterborough striker is somewhat of an unknown quantity.

He has had one phenomenal season where he scored 33-goals in all competitions for the League One side.

It is a gamble but whatever league you are in, you don’t amass those kinds of figures by accident.

He has an eye for goal and is young enough to improve under Frank Lampard and Jody Morris.

Marriott and Derby seem like the perfect match for one another

Chris Gallagher

He's exactly what they needed.

Derby's forwards weren't great and they needed a young, clinical striker to help fire them to promotion.

Marriott fits the bill and could flourish in this attacking Rams team.

Christian Fuller

Phenomenal signing.

It surprises me that a lower end Premier League side didn’t come in for the former Peterborough striker, after the sensational individual campaign he had last season.

While Frank Lampard may have next to no first-team managerial experience, this really is an inspired signing that could benefit him, and the Rams, in the long run
