The Professional Footballers' Association has announced the nominees for the Fans' Championship player of the Season award.

Alan Judge

In one of the tightest and most entertaining, Championship seasons to date, choosing a single player of the season is even more difficult than usual.

The six nominees that have been selected could all be deserving of the award themselves with there also being a number of players that failed to make the shortlist.

The first nominee on the shortlist is Alan Judge of Brentford. The central attacking midfielder has had his most successful season individually to date even if Brentford have not.

The Brentford midfielder achieved double figures in both the goalscoring and assisting charts with Judge scoring 13 goals and also 11 assists.

Sadly the midfielder's season was cut short with a serious injury but he still remained as one of the standout performers for the entire season.

Both Burnley strikers' Andre Gray and Sam Vokes have been nominated for their efforts in helping Burnley earn promotion back to the Premier League as champions.

Sam Vokes and Andre Gray combined to create 53 goals for Burnley.

Sam Vokes has 15 goals and 4 assists whereas his strike partner Andre Grey has had an even more profitable season with 25 goals and 9 assists, leading to him earning the golden boot.

Another standout performer that earned the recognition by the PFA is Ross McCormack.

The Fulham striker has earned plaudits for his 21 goals and 9 assists. Any player that has contributed thirty goals for his side has had a superb season.

However considering that McCormack has been part of a struggling Fulham side, it makes the feat all the more impressive.

The nominee that has been the biggest surprise this season and part of the surprise package is Fernando Forestieri which has led to Sheffield Wednesday reaching the Championship play-off final.

From the deeper number ten role, Forestieri has 16 goals and 5 assists and he has been the epitome and catalyst for Sheffield Wednesday's success this season.

Although the shortlist is dominated by attacking minded players, one particular deserving nominee is Daniel Ayala.

The central defender has proved himself to be one of, if not the best, defender in the Football League. Daniel Ayala's consistent performances have been integral to Middlesbrough's long awaited promotion back to the Premier League.
