Things could not be going much worse for Peterborough United in the Championship right now, but they have the chance to forget all of that when they face Premier League champions Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round tonight.

The Posh are currently bottom of the Championship table, eight points from safety and without a league win since December - yet have found a way to win in the FA Cup, dispatching League Two side Bristol Rovers in round 3 and knocking out fellow Championship side Queens Park Rangers in round 4.

Grant McCann was announced as the new Peterborough United manager last week after Darren Ferguson's resignation, but lost his first game in charge on Saturday 3-0 at home to Hull City. In only his second game at the helm, he faces an almighty test.

Meanwhile, Manchester City currently sit top of the Premier League, with Pep Guardiola's side six points clear of Liverpool in second.

Having already comfortably dispatched of two EFL sides in the competition - beating League Two Swindon Town 4-1 in round 3 and Championship high-flyers Fulham 4-1 in round 4 - City will be widely expected to progress to the next stage in the competition.

Latest team news

There is plenty of team news for the home side ahead of tonight's clash, according to the Peterborough United club website.

Posh will be without captain Oliver Norburn who is suspended after picking up two yellow cards in the previous rounds, whilst Callum Morton is cup-tied having played in the competition for Fleetwood Town in an earlier round.

Dan Butler (ankle) and Jack Taylor (Hamstring) are also set to miss out, but there is a chance Mark Beevers could feature after training well in the last few days.

Meanwhile, for Manchester City, goalkeeper Zach Steffen (shoulder) is set to miss out, meaning Pep Guardiola will have to decide between starting first-choice Ederson or Scott Carson tonight.

Pep Guardiola also confirmed that Oleksandr Zinchenko will play in the match despite the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

Zinchenko could be seen in tears as he embraced fellow Ukranian Vitaly Mykolenko at Goodison Park on Saturday and did not feature in the match.

Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus are also expected to return for City.
