The wait goes on for a decision to be made on the future of the Championship 2019/20 campaign, with uncertainty over whether it will get back underway this term.

Leeds United are currently sat top of the Championship table, and are seven points clear of third-placed Fulham in the second tier standings.

Whilst West Brom are sat just a place behind Marcelo Bielsa's side, and are well in contention to win a timely promotion back into the Premier League themselves.

However, due to recent off-the-field events, their push for promotion has been put on hold, with no scheduled return date being set as of yet.

It has previously been revealed by the EFL that clubs will vote to decide how the divisions should be concluded in the EFL, with it being stated that the play-offs in League One will only consist of four teams if the campaign is concluded early on a PPG (points per game) basis.

This would mean that Peterborough United would miss out on a chance to play in the League One play-offs, even though there are still matches to play in this year's campaign.

The Express and Star have recently revealed that West Brom would want to play on for the remainder of the season, rather than have the season concluded on a PPG basis.

Peterborough's owner Darragh MacAnthony has recently taken to Twitter to praise Leeds United and West Brom for reportedly wanting to finish the season on the pitch.

The Verdict:

They definitely deserve praise for their reported stances on the matter.

Leeds and West Brom could easily say that they want the season concluded early, as they would win promotion into the Premier League on a PPG basis this term.

I still don't think it's the right way to finish any season on a PPG basis, but of course, it has to be deemed safe enough to continue the league campaign for players and the club's staff.
