Peterborough United manager Graham Westley leaves club

Peterborough United have parted company with manager Graham Westley, a statement on the club’s official website has confirmed.

In a short statement, the club thanked Westley for his services and announced that Grant McCann will take over for the remainder of the season, which involves a trip to Shrewsbury before Blackpool visit London Road on the last weekend of the season.

McCann made 128 league appearances for the Posh during his four and a half year spell at the club, before leaving for Belfast-based Linfield FC. He has made just one appearance for the club since January 2015.

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony will lead the search for a new manager, although no timeline has been set by the club.

This news comes the day of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Scunthorpe United at home, and four defeats in their last five have meant that their play-off challenge has fallen away disastrously.
