Peterborough have confirmed the signing of Lee Tomlin from Cardiff City, with the 29-year-old rejoining the club on loan until the end of the season.

The attacking midfielder spent four years with the club from back in 2010 and was a crowd favourite due to his creativity and ability on the ball.

Ultimately, that form saw him get a move to Middlesbrough and he's had spells with Bournemouth and Bristol City before he made the move to the Welsh capital.

However, he has fallen out of favour under Neil Warnock and hasn't featured at all for the Bluebirds this season.

And, Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony confirmed on Twitter this morning that a deal had been agreed to bring Tomlin back to the club.

He praised the role Barry Fry played in handling the negotiations along with Cardiff boss Neil Warnock.

Tomlin's return is a timely boost for Peterborough after a tough few months that has seen them drop from automatic promotion contenders down to seventh.

He could make his debut at home this weekend when Steve Evans' side host Rochdale.

The Verdict

This is a fantastic move for all concerned and Tomlin could be a star in League One.

Whilst his return will excite fans as he was a former favourite, more importantly, he will give them something that the side needs.

With his technique and quality, he can be devastating in the third tier and everyone connected to Peterborough behind this deal deserves a lot of credit.
