League One is always hard to determine in terms of promotion, playoff places and the relegation places. But another story that unfolds over the season is the League One golden boot, the award that every striker vyes for over the course of a season.

Jordan Rhodes, Rickie Lambert, Billy Sharp and Will Grigg are all players who have won the League One golden boot in recent seasons, and there is another set of strikers pushing to get their hands on the golden boot for their mantelpiece come the end of the season.

Here, we take a look at three names who could all be in contention for the award come the end of the season...

Ivan Toney (Peterborough)

23 year-old striker Toney has had a whirlwind career so far, having come through the academy at Northampton Town and making his mark on the first team before moving to Newcastle United in 2015.

After several loan moves away, Toney has finally settled in Peterborough permanently after joining in 2018 and has already scored eight goals for the Posh this campaign.

The 5'10" striker is forming a lethal partnership with Mo Eisa up front for the side that is sat ninth in the League One table, and it'll be interesting to see whether Toney can help fire Peterborough up into the Playoffs.

Jonson Clarke-Harris (Bristol Rovers)

The talisman for the Gas has also hit the ground running this season, having scored six goals in the league for Graham Coughlan's side.

JCH's goals have pushed Rovers up to 8th in the table and the striker continues to remain pivotal for the side, his headed goals, acrobatic efforts and poacher's finishes have made a real impact in the north of Bristol.

If the likes of Josh Hare and Luke Leahy can continue to swing the balls into the box for JCH to attack, then Bristol Rovers could be on for a surprise push for promotion.

James Norwood (Ipswich Town)

The experienced striker moved to Ipswich this summer and has already scored five goals for the recently relegated side as they look to move back up to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Norwood's ability to go in behind the defence and latch onto through balls as well as being able to use his head in the box marks him out as being dangerous from different situations, so Norwood could be the man to help fire Ipswich to promotion at the first time of asking.
