Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has fueled speculation on Twitter that Marcus Maddison could be on his way out of the club, by Tweeting that he shall ‘have confirmation of his whereabouts by 4pm’.

The player has been attracting interest from the Championship, with Derby County one of the sides very interested in a deal for the winger.

Maddison enjoyed a wonderful spell in League One last season, scoring nine and laying on a further twelve, as the Posh recorded a disappointing mid-table finish.

The former Newcastle youngster joined the Cambridgeshire outfit from Gateshead in 2014, and quickly went on to establish himself as one of the brightest wide men in the third tier.

The 23-year-old is young and talented, and his ability to find the back of the net will appeal to Derby boss Gary Rowett, who is still in the market to replace Tom Ince at Pride Park.

The Verdict: Maddison has been linked with a move away from Peterborough for some time now following his remarkable year, and MacAnthony’s Tweet suggests there is certainly concern regarding the player’s future at the club.

With Derby still in the market for wide options, it would appear that a deal is very much on the cards, and a switch to Pride Park could happen in the closing hours of the window.

Derby fans, would you be happy if your side pulled off a late deal for the Peterborough winger?
