Stoke City are not going to stand in the way of Peter Etebo, if the midfielder extends his loan at Getafe due to the prolonged season.

StokeonTrentLive report that the Nigerian international is expected to be granted an extra period of stay at the Spanish side, and this has come about due to the break in the campaign because of the ongoing Coronavirus issues.

The 24-year-old has made just six appearances in La Liga since joining Getafe, but it looks as though he may now get an opportunity to increase that as he hopes to rebuild his career.

Etebo endured a tough time at Stoke and despite being one of the team's better performers last season, he couldn't quite help push the side up the table as they struggled to make any real headway in the Championship.

At just 24, he still has time to get his career back on track and it could still be at Stoke, with the midfielder only on loan at Getafe.

The Verdict

Etebo has a lot of potential and despite Stoke having a really poor season in the last campaign, he was one of the better performers.

It's a surprise perhaps that Michael O'Neill doesn't want to keep him for their remainder of the season but maybe he feels obliged to fill the loan out with current events that have taken place.

The Potters are in a relegation fight and they need all the help they can get in the next few weeks otherwise they might well struggle to stay in the league.

It'll be interesting to see whether Etebo has a future at Stoke once his loan deal is finished at Getafe.
