Stoke City picked up a morale-boosting three points at the weekend, as they comfortably beat play-off chasing Nottingham Forest 2-0.

Goals from Peter Etebo and Benik Afobe proved to be enough for Nathan Jones' side as they ran out winners on the day.

The result sees the Potters move up to 16th position in the Championship table, and they'll be hoping to build on this impressive performance for the remainder of this year's campaign after a poor first-half of the season.

One man who stood out in the win was Etebo who netted his first goal in a Stoke shirt following his summer move from Portuguese side, Feirense.

Etebo took to Instagram following the win, and was evidently delighted to open his account with the Potters at the weekend.

Stoke supporters would have been impressed with his performance during the win and he's shown glimpses of his quality since arriving in the summer.

Etebo arrived for a sizeable price tag of £6.35m and it's fair to say that he's struggled to hit the ground running so far this season.

But after this impressive display against Forest, fans will be hoping that he can build on this performance for the remainder of this year's campaign.

Etebo and his Stoke City team-mates take on QPR at the weekend, where they will be hoping to pile on more misery for the Hoops who have los eight of their last nine league games.

The Verdict:

What a confidence-booster this will be.

Etebo has struggled to adjust to life in English football, but this fine strike at the weekend will certainly give him a much-needed boost going forward for the rest of the season.

He needs to build on this, as he's got a hefty price tag to justify.
