Stoke City midfielder Peter Etebo has issued a positive message to supporters after his side's 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

The Potters were looking to secure only their second league win under the management of Nathan Jones, with the Staffordshire club sitting well away from the Sky Bet Championship play-off places.

Jones' men did make the perfect start in their pursuit of three points, as Sam Vokes struck after just five minutes to give the Potters the lead, but were made to rue their sloppy defensive mistakes when Albert Adomah equalised in the second half.

Despite their dominant pressure in the closing stages of the game, Jones' men couldn't find the net and fell to yet another draw - but speaking four days after the game, midfielder Etebo said on his Instagram page that he thought Stoke deserved more from the game, and insisted that Stoke fans "keep their heads up" ahead of the final few months of the season.

Etebo has been a likeable figure at the bet365 Stadium since his move from Feirense in the summer, and has been a solid, tenacious figure in the middle of the park this term.

The result at the weekend leaves Nathan Jones' men sitting 18th in the league table, 12 points off the play-off spots.

The Verdict

I actually agree with Etebo in this case, as I thought Stoke were the better team throughout.

They had some good chances and also limited Villa to very few, but in the end, a draw was the result and both teams move on.

If Stoke can keep up these level of performances, then they can go into the summer with real momentum and optimism under Nathan Jones.
