Bristol City has been an excellent destination for young players to be given a chance to thrive in recent seasons.

Two of the club's most exciting prospects at present, who are thriving within the first-team at Ashton Gate, are Tommy Conway and Alex Scott.

Scott, 19, has played 20 times in the league thus far for the Robins and has proven to be a versatile option for Nigel Pearson to call upon, whilst Conway, 20, has nine goals and four assists to his name in 24 appearances in all competitions thus far.

Expecting the pair to feature on Premier League clubs' radars when January comes around, Pete O'Rourke told Football League World: "I think it's vital that Bristol City keep hold of both these young players. They have two of the best young prospects in the Football League. I think Scott and Tommy Conway have proven that at Bristol City as well.

"So yeah, there will be Premier League clubs who will be monitoring both of those players on a regular basis but, Bristol City, obviously a well-run club and well-financed there. Don't really need the money, I think from either player to be sold as well. So it would take big fees.

"I think for both players right now, they're both playing regularly, both getting great experience. Maybe the time is now to stay there and continue their development but I think in the summer if they continue to rise, I think Bristol City are going to be bracing themselves for major interest in both players."

The verdict

Whilst both players have shown excellent ability and a really high potential, it is hard to see any moves coming to fruition in the immediate future.

Teams typically have a lower budget during the January transfer window, meaning that clubs who may have the pair on their radars may have to wait until the summer to make the move.

As O'Rourke mentions, both are gaining excellent experience at Ashton Gate, and for the sake of their development, remaining at Bristol City is perhaps the best option.

It would be no surprise to see the pair in England's top flight in years to come but maybe not just yet.
