According to today's printed edition of the Mirror (page 54,) Scunthorpe United want to complete a permanent deal for Nottingham Forest's Ryan Yates.

The midfielder has impressed in a couple of loans this season for Notts County and now the Iron and it appears that the League One side want to keep him on a permanent basis.

It's being touted that a £500,000 fee could be what it takes to seal any potential deal and with Forest's midfield options right now you can see why they'd be open to it.

Even so, the Reds do have a lot of their midfielders only on loan themselves right now and so Aitor Karanka might still be open to giving Yates a chance to show what he can do in pre-season.

Indeed, he signed a new long-term deal not too long ago and so it remains to be seen exactly what happens next.

The Verdict

The Reds have got a number of options right now but they could all leave in the summer.

Karanka will surely want to see what Yates can do first hand before making a call on him but you do get the impression that a transfer away is possible.

It's going to be a busy summer at the City Ground that is for sure.
