Jordan Rhodes scored a brace which helped his Norwich City side overturn a deficit to defeat Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

The Canaries striker is only on loan from Sheffield Wednesday, however, his goals last night highlight a number of things going forward.

Firstly, Norwich fans will surely be calling for boss Daniel Farke to act fast and tie Rhodes down on a permanent deal.

The Scotland international has already equalled his goal tally from the whole of last season, where he struggled at Sheffield Wednesday, and is starting to feel at home at Carrow Road.

Speaking after the game, Rhodes admitted he is ‘loving every minute’ of his spell at Carrow Road, and the feeling is understandably mutual between the player and the fan base.

Despite scoring a healthy seven goals in all competitions, Rhodes has often played second fiddle to striking sensation Teemu Pukki.

The Finnish frontman was central to Norwich’s eye-catching run of wins prior to the recent international break, and Rhodes’ chance of breaking into the team seemed low.

However, with Pukki’s injury woes of late, Rhodes has really stepped up and showed the rest of the division that Norwich are not a one-man-band, and don’t rely on Pukki as the sole goal scorer.

With two strikers seemingly in great scoring form, Norwich surely have to be serious promotion candidates.

The win over Aston Villa takes Daniel Farke’s side up to fourth in the table, at least until the other teams play on Wednesday, and they will really fancy their chances of promotion.

Rhodes’ performance against Villa highlighted that Norwich are not solely reliant on Pukki and that the Canaries are real candidates to return to the Premier League this season.
