Sheffield Wednesday opened up a five point gap over seventh placed Derby County after a convincing 2-0 win over promotion rivals, Huddersfield Town.

Wednesday stay in sixth after their win but opening up the gap to Derby would've been the main aim for today,  whilst closing the gap to Brighton in the process after they slipped up at Preston.

A scintillating strike from Ross Wallace got the ball rolling for the Owls and when Huddersfield were reduced to 10 men, Wednesday never really looked like conceding.

Forestieri sealed all three points late on, touching home from six yards, to ensure Wednesday fans went home happy and that they sealed the double over the Terriers.

Wednesday are now well poised to get another shot at promotion to the top flight, much to the delight of Wednesday boss, Carlos Carvalhal, who also praised Owls fans today, praising how they stuck by the team throughout the game.

Wednesday fans were clearly delighted with the win and here's how they reacted on twitter...
