Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is looking to reunite with Jota at Villa Park, in wake of leading his side back to the Premier League on Bank Holiday Monday.

At Wembley last weekend, Villa beat Derby County 2-1 to secure promotion back to the Premier League after a three-year absence.

And, it appears that Smith is wasting no time in adding to his squad, with the Birmingham Mail’s Gregg Evans linking Villa with a move to sign Jota.

The 27-year-old is currently on the books across Birmingham with Garry Monk’s Blues, but Smith and Jota did cross paths at Brentford, where the winger thrived.

Last season, the Spaniard scored only three goals for Birmingham, but he registered an impressive 11 assists under Garry Monk’s management.

There is also a suggestion that Gary Gardner could head in the opposite direction to link up with Birmingham again.
