Birmingham City will have Jefferson Montero available for Saturday's game against Fulham, whilst keeper David Stockdale is also expected to return to the bench.

The double injury update was provided by boss Pep Clotet, who spoke to the club's media today as Blues look to maintain their excellent recent form at St. Andrew's.

"Jefferson Montero has come through his injury, he is available for selection at the weekend, David Stockdale has trained the whole week too, so both are again ready if called upon on Saturday."

Whilst Stockdale is unlikely to replace Lee Camp in goal, having Montero back will be welcome to the Spanish coach.

The speedy winger has endured a frustrating first few months in the west Midlands having picked up a thigh injury against Stoke City in late August - in what was only his second appearance for the club.

However, he has now recovered, although competition for places is particularly fierce in the final third, with Blues announcing the signing of Jeremie Bela yesterday who is expected to be involved against the Cottagers.

The verdict

Even though these two players aren't vital to Blues, it's always good for the manager to have options at his disposal and depth to his squad.

And, Montero is someone who can be particularly useful as a sub with his electric pace and dribbling ability making him someone the opposition will not want to face.

But, with Blues performing well in the past few weeks it seems unlikely he will start this weekend so it's down to Montero to do all he can off the bench and in training to impress.
