Birmingham City caretaker head coach Pep Clotet has sent a birthday message to his assistant Paco Herrera on social media.

Herrera - who turned 66 today - has been Clotet's assistant at St Andrew's since the summer and has played a key role in the Blues' start to the campaign.

Clotet has been in caretaker charge at St Andrew's since the club decided to part company with Garry Monk in June and the Blues' have made a decent start to the season under him - although they've suffered a bit of a dip in form recently.

Birmingham are without a win in their last five matches in the Championship - although they have drawn their last three - and this run has seen them fall to 15th in the league table.

Clotet and Herrera have worked together in Spain in the past at Espanyol and judging by his latest social media post, the Blues boss has a very close friendship with his assistant.

The Blues' caretaker head coach sent a message to his assistant earlier today with a message on his personal

/">Instagram account, wishing him a happy birthday.

Clotet wrote on Instagram: "Happy birthday, Paco!! His experience, football knowledge and quality mean that he's a key part of our team, and his commitment and passion for the club from day one make him a true Blues man! Have a good one! #kro #bcfc"

The Verdict

Clotet and Herrera obviously have a very close working relationship, but it seems as though they've got a very close friendship too. They've worked together before in the past and will now be hoping to achieve success with Birmingham in the Championship.

Herrera has got plenty of experience as a coach and Clotet will probably be able to learn a great deal from working alongside him.

Even though they've suffered a bit of a dip in form recently, Birmingham have still made a decent start to the season under Clotet and it'll be very interesting to see whether he will be given the job on a permanent basis in the future.
