Birmingham City boss Pep Clotet has revealed that he expect to be busy before the transfer deadline shuts next week.

The west Midlands outfit have had a mixed window so far, with the arrival of Ivan Sunjic from Dinamo Zagreb a major coup, whilst Danny Crowley also looks a smart bit of business.

However, they also lost top scorer Che Adams and Jota, with the striker commanding a £15m fee, so it's clear that they need to strengthen and additions in the final third look to be a priority with the funds available.

And, Clotet told the club's media that they will be working on bringing in new faces.

"Recruitment has been good, we are happy with the players that have come in, it is important to replace the players that we have lost, we have analysed what is required and we are working very hard on getting things done before next week’s deadline."

Blues begin their Championship campaign with a tough looking fixture away to Brentford, although any new recruits before then seem unlikely.

The Verdict

This is the news that Blues fans will have wanted to hear as it's quite clear that their squad needs new additions.

They haven't replaced Adams yet and finding a goalscorer is going to be the main task for Clotet and the recruitment team before the deadline.

Even though the club have had issues with FFP in the past, Adam's sale should ensure they can splash some cash.

So, it promises to be a very busy week at St. Andrew's and it will be interesting to see who they can attract after some impressive deals so far.
