Birmingham City head coach Pep Clotet has revealed that he has not been made aware of any formal approach from Nottingham Forest to sign Blues striker Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Jutkiewicz has been an important player for Birmingham in the Championship so far this season, scoring eight goals in 26 league appearances for the Blues.

However, with the January transfer window now open, The Athletic claim that the 30-year-old is attracting interest from Birmingham's second-tier rivals Nottingham Forest.

Forest have made an encouraging start to the new season under Sabri Lamouchi, but are desperate to sign another striker this month in order to provide backup and competition for their top scorer Lewis Grabban, as they push for promotion.

The Reds have been linked with various different forwards over the past few weeks, but this latest report from The Athletic claims that Jutkiewicz is one of the names on their shortlist.

However, Birmingham boss Clotet has revealed that, at present, he is not aware of any interest from Forest to sign Jutkiewicz, with the club's recruitment team working hard on identifying potential January signings of their own.

Clotet told BirminghamLive: "I am not that technically involved in the ins and outs [during a transfer window].

"My position is head coach, so my main responsibility is getting the very best that is possible out of the players that the club make available for me. But I have not been informed on that particular matter."

"Everybody is working away [to get deals done], but at the moment I have not been inform of any developments."

The Verdict

Jutkiewicz is a good striker and he's got plenty of experience in the Championship. He'd be a decent signing for Nottingham Forest and would be able to provide cover and competition for Grabban.

With that said, Birmingham are in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle, so it would be a major blow for the Blues if they were to lose their top scorer this month.

Forest have been linked with so many strikers over the past few weeks, so it'll be very interesting to see just how much truth there is to this latest speculation.
