Pep Clotet has praised Lukas Jutkiewicz for his resilience during Birmingham’s victory over Luton Town on Saturday.
The striker managed to score his fourth goal of the season in the win and it meant that the Blues moved up to 11th in the Championship table.
He’s been impressive throughout his time at Birmingham and has become a fan favourite due to his important goals and work-rate in the side.
With new manager Clotet coming in over the summer, Jutkiewicz has stayed in as an integral part of the starting XI.
The boss expressed his praise for the strong character, and insisted he always gives everything to the cause for Birmingham.
Speaking FourFourTwo, Clotet said: “I think ‘Jukey’ is very strong mentally. He’s a key player for us because in the position he plays, he never gives up and he’s very positive – he always thinks he can get something out of a situation.
“He always gives everything he has and this was from playing three games in a week.
“That performance shows character, resilience and shows he knows exactly what this game was about.”
Will Birmingham finish in the play-offs?
Birmingham are starting to put a good run together and have been brilliant at home in recent weeks. You just feel that if they could improve their away record and start getting a few more results away from St. Andrews then they won’t be far off a push for the play-offs.
Jutkiewicz has been key now for a quite a few seasons and he has the ability to change games whilst endearing himself to the supporters because of the amount of effort that he puts into his game.
At times, when playing away from home he can look a frustrated figure at the top of the pitch, but that’s something Clotet must work on to ensure Birmingham continue to push up the table.
