Birmingham City will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Championship against Bristol City tomorrow and Pep Clotet has delivered an injury update ahead of the clash at St Andrew's.

The Blues got their new campaign off to the perfect start last weekend, with a 1-0 win over Brentford at Griffin Park - thanks to a goal from defender Kristian Pedersen.

Clotet has confirmed that Birmingham do have a few injury problems ahead of their first home game of the season, but has insisted that the players who are fit are fully focused on the match.

Jacques Maghoma and Jonathan Grounds both have calf injuries, while Kerim Mrabti and Cheick Keita both have a hamstring problem. Maikel Kieftenbeld is also expected to miss the game with a knee injury.

Birmingham finished 17th in the Championship table under Garry Monk last season, despite a nine-point deduction from the EFL for breaching profitability and sustainability rules.

Monk was sacked as Birmingham boss earlier this summer and his assistant Clotet was promoted the role of caretaker head coach, with the club not actively seeking a permanent manager.

The Verdict

It should be a good game at St Andrew's tomorrow.

Birmingham will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins in the Championship, while Bristol City will be determined to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat to Leeds United on the opening weekend.

I don't think Birmingham fans will be majorly concerned by this injury update, although Maghoma is a key player for the Blues and he could be a miss for them in midfield.

It will be interesting to see if Clotet is prepared to give debuts to his two Spanish signings Fran Villalba and Alvaro Gimenez too.

It should be a decent game, but I'm expecting Bristol City to come out on top.
