Middlesbrough completed the signing of Andy Lonergan today, with the experienced goalkeeper signing a one-year deal at the Riverside.

The 34-year-old had spent the previous season at Leeds United but was let go in the summer as the Whites made changes to the goalkeeping department.

However, he wasn't looking for a new club for that long, with the Teesside outfit confirming that he has joined up with Tony Pulis' men ahead of the new season.

The former Wolves man will enhance the options for the boss in goal, and he is likely to be competing with Dimi Konstantopoulos for the number two position, behind Darren Randolph.

His arrival should also spell the end for Connor Ripley, with the 25-year-old dropping further down the pecking order.

It's fair to say this transfer didn't go down too well with Boro fans, who are desperate for the club to bring in more creative options instead of a back-up goalkeeper.
