Portsmouth have recently appointed Kenny Jackett as their new manager.

This comes after former boss Paul Cook departed for fellow League One outfit Wigan Athletic after clinching the 2016/17 League Two title.

Jackett is a shrewd appointment to say the least; he has vast experience in League One and above, and more importantly, the former Millwall and Wolves manager knows how to get out of the division.

Pompey definitely have the infrastructure, fan base and financial backing to once again challenge for promotion next term, and the appointment of Jackett definitely outlines their ambition to get to the Championship and beyond.

With a takeover also on the horizon by American businessman Michael Eisner, things are looking to be on the ascent at Fratton Park, and Pompey fans can go into next season full of optimism.
