Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has vowed that his side will play without fear, when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday night.
The Grecians drew 2-2 with Jurgen Klopp’s side at St. James’ Park two weeks ago having been leading, until just 17 minutes to go against a youthful Reds XI.
Despite failing to hold on for a memorable win, the League Two club earned a lucrative replay at the home of the Premier League side, and Tisdale insists that his side will not be overawed by the occasion.
He told the club’s official website: “We’re going to enjoy it; we have nothing to lose, and we know that we’ve just picked up some valuable points towards the club’s campaign.
“As much as we were delighted with the draw [in the first match against Liverpool], it was tinged slightly by the fact that we had the lead with fifteen minutes to go. But, being a football manager, you move onto the next very quickly.
“We’re all very proud of the way the club conducted itself in that first game, and there will be six thousand Exeter City supporters going, so we’ve all got to enjoy it. We just have to accept that we are playing against 11 Liverpool players, no matter who they are, but we go in positive and with nothing to lose.”
The replay kicks off on Wednesday night at 8pm, with the match being shown live on BT Sport.
Meanwhile, in the league Exeter sit in 14th place in Sky Bet League Two, having amassed 34 points from 26 league games this season.
