Jack Harrison’s performances for Leeds United this season could see him in-line to earn a permanent deal at Elland Road as his Manchester City future looks pretty unlikely to ever materialise, and many are clamouring to see a deal completed.

The on-loan winger has become a vital part of Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season, as he is yet to miss a league game, showing boundless energy out on the left-wing for Leeds.

His first season saw Man City look to develop him in West Yorkshire with no permanent option available to the Whites, however,  this season has seen the Premier League giants far more willing to do business and have allowed an option-to-buy in his contract, believed to be in the region of £8million.

It would be a tremendous coup for Leeds to pick up Harrison for that price, given that his form before the recent break put him as one of the top-performing wingers in the league, extremely unlucky not to score on a handful of occasions.

The summer transfer window will give Leeds the chance to tie down Harrison to permanent terms and it seems like a no-brainer, regardless of the division they are in.

Former White Paul Robinson seems to share the stance that Harrison must be signed by Leeds when he had this to say to MOT Leeds News: “Jack Harrison has been absolutely outstanding this season.

“He would be a great signing… He’s grown into an absolutely fantastic player this campaign.

“Him, Ben White and Kalvin Phillips have been the three best Leeds players this season.

“Harrison has hit so much woodwork this season it’s incredible. His assists are up there and his goal rate should probably be double what he’s got, he’s just been really unlucky, but he still performs week in week out for Leeds.

“There is no hesitation in my mind about Leeds signing Harrison.”

Harrison will be hoping that his current form and finish to the season gives Leeds all the more reason to get a permanent deal on the table as soon as possible.

The verdict

There is no doubt that both Leeds and Harrison will be eager to seal a permanent deal for him at the end of the season.

His improvement week by week is a testament to the hard work that he has put in to become one of Bielsa’s most important players.

While his end-product hasn’t been as sharp as many would have hoped for, there can’t be any complaints about him in the last few months.

His hard work, sometimes isolated, on the left-wing is a great summary of the type of attitude that Marcelo Bielsa expects, and is something that Leeds will be looking forward to for years to come.
