It's fair to say that Hull City have had plenty of ups and downs in recent seasons, with the club now playing their football in the Championship.

The Tigers are struggling in the second tier though, and have fallen into a relegation scrap after a dismal run of results under the management of Grant McCann.

The days of playing their football in the Premier League will feel like a distant memory for plenty of the club's supporters.

On the 4th May, it was seven years to the day since Hull were promoted into the top-flight in the 2012/13 season as they finished second in the Championship table to clinch a timely return to the Premier League.

The Tigers finished two points clear of third-placed Watford in the table, but were eight points adrift of eventual league winners Cardiff City.

One player that played his part in that promotion-winning season was Paul McShane, who made 25 league appearances for the Tigers in that campaign.

McShane took to Instagram to look back at the memorable day they won promotion back into the Premier League under the management of Steve Bruce.

The Verdict:

This will feel like a distant memory for plenty of Hull City supporters.

That group of players that won promotion into the Premier League in that season had a real togetherness, which is something they could certainly benefit from having nowadays.

Grant McCann has been desperately unlucky with the amount of injuries he's had in his squad this season, but his players need to show more fight, and quickly, otherwise they'll be facing relegation into League One in the coming months.

It's great to see McShane looking back at a standout memory in his professional career.
