Aston Villa legend Paul McGrath has called on his former side to make sure they beat Leeds tonight to keep alive their hopes of finishing second.

The former Ireland international, referred to as 'God' by Villa fans, took to twitter this afternoon to send a supportive message to the players ahead of the clash against Leeds United.

He revealed that he isn't bothered about how Villa play, as long as they end up with the three points.

Should Villa win they will move to within two points of second placed Fulham, although the Cottagers would have a game in hand on them, whilst Cardiff will have two.

Yet, the pair have tough fixtures tomorrow, with the Welsh side travelling to Norwich, before Fulham host in-form Brentford in the evening.

Given that, Steve Bruce will know how important a victory is to put a little bit more pressure on the duo.

Villa go into tonight's fixture on the back of a 1-0 success over rivals Cardiff with Jack Grealish scoring the only goal of the game with a superb volley.

The Verdict

Most Villa fans will agree with what McGrath says. At this stage of the season it's all about the results and that's all everyone connected with the club will care about.

There should be a big crowd to help Steve Bruce's men tonight which could be key in helping them overcome Leeds.

Most know that automatic promotion is a long-shot, but Villa must keep fighting until the end and only a win is enough tonight.
