With Paul Lambert looking increasingly likely to be named as boss of Wolves, all attention will turn to just how he addresses the squad and turns around their fortunes in what has been a dismal season so far.

The Wolves squad is already full of exciting talent after a summer of heaving investment and activity in the market from the new owners, but does Lambert need more?

One place Lambert could look is the free agent market, where players are waiting to be snapped up free of charge and itching for a contract.

A lot of Lambert's assessment of players will no doubt come down to character. Lambert himself was a fiery, passionate player, and he will expect just the same from his squad and any potential signings.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at TWO free agents Paul Lambert could snap up for Wolves...

Raul Meireles

If you want to continue the plethora of Portuguese players currently on the books, but want to get some actual quality and experience, then Meireles could be the man.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea man is without a club since leaving Fenerbahce in the summer, and could well do a job in the Championship.

A fiery player, and one who gets stuck in, Meireles would add steel and combat to the middle of the park for Wolves. Definitely one Lambert should consider.

Dimitar Berbatov

With all the money currently available at Wolves and the loft ambitions of the new owners, why not make a move for Berbatov?

The former Man United and Spurs man might be well into his 30's, but boy does he have talent, and have it in abundance.

Berbatov would run rings round plenty of Championship defences and would above anything else increase the standard of training and preparation for games within the club as a whole. He would be a superb signing, and a real coup if they could pull it off.

Wolves fans. Happy with Lambert? Happy with these two? Who would you sign? Let us know in the comments!
