Speaking to the Express and Star, Paul Lambert has revealed that Wolverhampton Wanderers could welcome back Helder Costa into their side for this weekend’s clash with Blackburn Rovers.
Costa has been absent from Wolves’ last four league fixtures with a niggling ankle injury, which is threatening to end the winger’s season early.
Lambert confirmed Costa nearly made Monday’s trip to Leeds United, but after raising the tempo in training, he received a further setback.
With just four fixtures of the season remaining, Lambert is hopeful Wolves’ supporters will get to see Costa again this term, with confidence he could feature on Saturday.
Lambert said: “I certainly hope he plays again this season, with the season he’s had as well. He’s been a massive part of what’s happened. So we’ll see what happens with the doctors and what they say.
“With a bit of luck he might be available for Saturday (against Blackburn), but that’s pre-empting it a few days before. Will he be fit? We’ll have to wait and see, but hopefully.”
Costa’s absence has not caused a major problem for Wolves, who have won two from four without the winger, including Monday’s impressive 1-0 victory over Leeds.
Wolves have four fixtures of the season remaining, including home games against Blackburn, Huddersfield Town and Preston North End and an away trip to Derby County.
