According to the Express and Star, Andreas Weimann is expected to complete a permanent transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer, with Paul Lambert admitting he wants to sign the forward.
Weimann has been impressive for Wolves since his arrival at Molineux from Derby County during the January transfer window.
A £1.5m deal is reportedly in place to make Weimann’s loan move from Derby permanent when the Sky Bet Championship season finishes.
There had been doubts to whether Wolves would take up the option to sign Weimann, who struggled during the early stages of his time at Molineux, but Lambert has admitted he is keen for the Austrian to remain with the club next season, he said:
“I’d like to sign him, he’s been terrific.
“It’ll wait until the end of the season but hopefully it’ll take care of itself.”
Weimann has scored three goals in 18 appearances for Wolves, adding two further assists and playing a vital part in hauling Lambert’s side clear of the Championship’s relegation zone.
Wolves have just four fixtures left this season, but are now mathematically safe after moving ten-points clear of the relegation zone, with Monday’s victory over Leeds United.
