Felix Wiedwald has had a very tough debut season in the Championship and former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes his former side should be looking for a new goalkeeper.

The German arrived from Werder Bremen in the summer and Thomas Christiansen made him his number one for the first game of the season but was forced to drop by October after several costly errors.

Number two Andy Lonergan didn't do much better, so Wiedwald won his place back after seven games on the bench but the errors have continued.

His latest came on Sunday after he failed to collect a long throw which allowed Famara Diedhiou to score for Bristol City and that prompted Robinson to say Leeds need better.

However, journalist Phil Hay has revealed that Paul Heckingbottom has said it's too early for him to be making judgements like that given he has only been in charge for two games.

The ex-Barnsley boss has stated that every player in the squad is under pressure for their place so it will be interesting to see if he sticks with Wiedwald for the game against Derby tomorrow.

The Verdict

Heckingbottom has to give every player a clean slate so he shouldn't make rash judgements after just two games like he says.

But, you can't really argue with Robinson either. Wiedwald has been disastrous at times this season and from what we've seen he just isn't up to it.

Of course, things can change in football and he may get another 14 games to prove himself but unless there's a drastic improvement then Leeds will need a new number one in the summer.
