Sheffield United will want to try and get back into the Premier League this season - and Paul Heckingbottom has his eyes on two more additions this offseason, as reported by Nathan Hemmingham at the Examiner Live.

The Blades managed to seal a play-off spot last time around but once there, they couldn't quite go all the way and seal that elusive place back in the top flight.

Having reshuffled his squad and taken a look at them now in pre-season, boss Paul Heckingbottom will know exactly where he feels the side need improving. It's now apparent, according to this report, that the manager has his eyes on two more additions before the summer window comes to a close - although he isn't ruling out more either.

Hemmingham says that Heckingbottom is 'looking at two more players and will be happy' and so it suggests that there will be at least a couple more incomings through the door at Bramall Lane before the summer is out.

They've already brought in three players this year too - with one, Anel Ahmedhodzic, costing a hefty fee this offseason. They've also signed up Tommy Doyle on a loan from Man City and Ciaran Clark on a short-term basis from Newcastle too.

They've seen several departures too, so it will be a new look team next time out - and Heckingbottom seemingly isn't done yet and will be eyeing up a few more additions to help ensure his side is full strength for the new campaign.

The Blades boss - and the club's supporters then - should continue to expect a busy few weeks ahead.

The Verdict

Sheffield United are coming together quite nicely so far and the addition of Tommy Doyle is a superb bit of business.

He was excellent on loan in the Championship last season and his performances suggest that he can be one of the best in his position in the entire division given the chance. Clark has experience and can shore up the backline and Ahmedhodzic could prove to be a steal.

The fact that the Blades aren't done there, means they could surely be one of the leading promotion contenders heading into the new season. They were strong already last term and came close but by adding such big and talented names to their ranks, it will only increase their promotion hopes.

Adding another two names will continue to make them one of the strongest teams in the division - so Blades' fans should be pleased.
