Leeds United midfielder Pablo Hernandez is at risk of having "other clubs turning his head", manager Paul Heckingbottom has conceded.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of this weekend's clash against Barnsley, as reported by journalist Phil Hay, Heckingbottom admitted that Hernandez might be interested in leaving Leeds United this summer when his contract expires.

Hernandez has arguably been Leeds' best player this season, scoring seven goals and weighing in with a further eight assists for the Whites.

But with his contract due to expire at the end of the season, Leeds fans have been calling for him to be rewarded with a new deal.

Heckingbottom has confirmed that he has spoken to the Spaniard and they have had "positive" conversations about his future.

But he also added that there is a risk of "other clubs turning his head".

The former Barnsley manager wants to keep his 33-year-old star at Elland Road next season but admitted that no further progress had been made on contract talks.

Hernandez might be tempted to leave if there are other offers on the table, having spent the last two seasons at Leeds and establishing himself as a firm fans' favourite.

The Verdict

Securing Hernandez's future at Elland Road needs to be prioritised. Rather than wait until the season is over, Leeds need to act now because they might miss out. The veteran midfielder still has it and deserves at least one more year at Leeds.
