Leeds United looked to address their issues in the attacking positions with the addition of striker Tyler Roberts from West Bromwich Albion in January, after summer signings failed to live up to expectations at Elland Road.

The likes of Pawel Cibicki and Jay-Roy Grot have struggled to adapt to the demands of second tier English football, and Roberts was identified as the man to stop the rot engulfing the club, and lead the Whites to an unlikely push for a top six finish.

However Roberts joined the club with lingering injury concerns, with new boss Paul Heckingbottom suffering the consequences as the player was ruled out for a period of time with a small crack in his shin.

Heckingbottom will now be without the player for an unknown period, confirming to BBC journalist Adam Pope that he will require another scan to determine the severity of the setback and that there is indeed, a crack in the bone.

The Verdict

Roberts is a promising young striker who was held in high regard at West Brom but failed to make the grade, and looks set for a bright future at Elland Road.

However many will harbour concerns over his long-term fitness, with an immediate injury curtailing the start of his career with the Whites.

A cracked bone is a nasty sounding injury which will take time to recover from, and fans can only hope that the player returns stronger, and proves not to be yet another failed transfer at the club this season.
