Paul Heckingbottom has warned his Barnsley side they must be prepared for Brighton and Hove Albion having a good day, when the two sides meet in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday, reports the club’s official website.

Chris Hughton’s Brighton side head to Oakwell on Saturday, looking to return to the top of the Championship table, something Heckingbottom is hopeful the Tykes will be able to prevent.

Barnsley lost the reverse fixture 2-0 on the South-Coast and Heckingbottom has been reflecting on that game: “We didn’t make it difficult enough for Brighton down there, then you go and look at some of the teams who Brighton beat and how they beat them, maybe we weren’t that bad, maybe Brighton had a really good day, but we'll make it very difficult for them at home.

“But we have to be ready for them having a really good day on Saturday.”

Brighton are currently second in the Championship table, but are not at their best, winning just once in their last four league games.

Heckingbottom’s side still have a chance of breaking into the Play-Offs, currently sat six-points behind Sheffield Wednesday, and will be full of confidence following Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Barnsley are unbeaten since the defeat to Wolves last month, a game, which saw Alex Mowatt, receive a red-card on his debut for the club.

Mowatt is available for this weekend’s clash and Heckingbottom confirmed he has been keeping himself fit: “Alex has been looking great on the watt bike.

“He’s been working hard, the one thing we can do is keep his fitness up when he’s not playing.”
