Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom blamed Barnsley’s lack of ruthlessness in front of goal for their loss to Queens Park Rangers last night, the club’s official website reports.
And while Heckingbottom rued Barnsley’s missed chances, he also noted that Queens Park Rangers did take their opportunities to earn the victory.
Barnsley fell to a 2-1 defeat at Loftus Road to severely dent their outside hopes of achieving a play-off spot.
Reflecting on the game, Heckingbottom said:
“They were the only two shots on target they had, their two goals, which is a real body blow.
We huffed and puffed last thirty minutes, made the changes after the second goal and came on strong but it’s going behind that’s the problem.”
Talking about missed chances, the Barnsley boss added:
“We’ve got to take them.
“We’ve said it all along, we have to be clinical at that end and ruthless and really tight at the other.”
