Stoke City assistant Paul Hart has revealed that the three players who were forced off in the midweek defeat at Sheffield Wednesday aren't necessarily out of Saturday's game at Millwall.

Nathan Jones' side went into the clash at Hillsborough seeking a third consecutive win as they looked to move out of the relegation but they endured a night to forget.

As well as falling to a 1-0 defeat, the Potters lost Cameron Carter-Vickers, Peter Etebo and Tom Edwards during the 90 minutes.

And, Hart gave an update on the trio when speaking to Stoke-On-Trent Live, where he didn't rule them out of making the trip to The Den.

"We’ve got two muscle injuries and a contact one (Carter-Vickers) and we’re going to have wait and see. We’re going to give as long as we possibly can, obviously.

"Cameron is the contact one. He had eight stitches near the knee so we’ll see what the mechanics of it are."

Stoke will be coming up against former boss Gary Rowett, who is set to take charge of his first game as the Lions boss.

The verdict

This is good news as fans would've expected all three to miss this weekend and whilst that may still be the case, the injuries clearly aren't too serious going by Hart's comments.

Having said that, you wouldn't expect Etebo and Edwards to have overcome muscle injuries in the space of a few days but Carter-Vickers should feature.

Either way, Jones has enough depth to choose from so there can be no complaints on that front from the boss and it's down to those who are selected to step up and get the side back to winning ways in what will be a tough game.
