Paul Clement will be looking to start the new campaign off with a victory over the Rams, and help improve on the Royals 20th place finish last season.

Reading will likely be going into the match as somewhat of an underdog, having failed to beat Derby County in the last six encounters at the Madejski in all competitions.

Clement will face a tough decision when picking his starting 11 as a number of first team players are missing through injury, while the unknown future of Liam Moore is likely to keep him out of contention.

While many may be disappointed to find themselves as a substitute in the opening day fixture, their impact off the bench could be game changing.

Here are two players the Royals should turn to as impact substitutes in tonight’s game.Pelle Clement has looked bright in pre-season and could be a useful option off the bench for the Royals.

His creative abilities in the final third could help create chances for Paul Clement's men.

Marc McNulty joined the Royals from League Two side Coventry City, where he netted 28 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions.

The 25-year-old striker is likely to play second fiddle to that of fellow newbie Sam Baldock, but could be a real impact sub at Paul Clement’s disposal.

Reading only found the net 48 times in their 46 league matches last campaign, so the introduction to Baldock in the starting lineup, and McNulty off the bench, might just solve their goal scoring woes.
