Paul Clement announces promising Reading player news

Paul Clement has revealed that Jon Dodi Bodvarsson and Omar Richards will return from injury soon.

Bodvarsson has been out since the middle of March when he picked up an injury against his former side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Prior to that, the Icelandic striker had scored seven times in 27 league games.

Richards has been out for slightly longer, and his injury came at a disappointing time because he had scored his first goals of the season in the last three games prior to the injury.

They will both be hoping to impress their new manager who is still getting used to the squad, so he is likely to give them opportunities.

Here’s what Clement had to say about them in his press conference as quoted by In Your Area: “Bodvarsson is getting closer.

He played in a training game at Hogwood on Tuesday where he did 40 minutes and he got some good physical data from that so he is pushing to be involved at the weekend.”

And I need to make a shout on Thursday or Friday with Omar for the game.”

The Verdict

This will be a boost going into the remainder of the season because it gives Clement more options to choose from which is always helpful.

Bodvarsson is a hard threat for defences to deal with, so he adds a unique element to the team that Clement will be aiming to use as he aims to steer the Royals to safety. However, the game against Preston will be difficult, regardless, because they are a well-organised side, so Reading will have to put in a top perfomance especially after the disappointing defeat against Aston Villa.
