Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has shared an update from Australia as the Whites get their pre-season training camp underway.

The trip will also see Marcelo Bielsa's squad face two pre-season friendlies - one against Western Sydney Wanderers and the other against their arch-rivals Manchester United.

But Bamford appeared to be in a relaxed mood when the team touched-down in Perth, posting a photograph of the sunny city on his Instagram story along with the caption: "Not bad for winter".

It was somewhat of a frustrating first season at Elland Road for Bamford after arriving for around £7million last summer, as he struggled to nail down a first-team spot and endear himself to the crowd.

But he still managed to net nine times in 22 games and he will be hoping that a full pre-season will see him improve significantly this time around.

Leeds and Manchester United have not faced-off in a competitive match since September 2011 when the Red Devils picked up a 3-0 win at Elland Road in the League Cup.

It came just 20 months after the Whites had shocked the Old Trafford crowd in the FA Cup third-round thanks to a Jermaine Beckford goal - something that Bamford will no doubt be keen to recreate.

The verdict

This is a really big pre-season for Patrick Bamford.

He had the excuse last season of arriving late in the day in preseason and also suffered a few injury set-backs which will not have helped him embed into an intense system.

So if he can get his head down and really embrace everything this summer then I see no reason why he can't become the main man at Elland Road next season.
