Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford has revealed that Marcelo Bielsa demands high intensity from the players in training as the Whites continue to impress.

An opening day 3-1 success over pre-season favourites Stoke was followed by a thumping 4-1 statement win at Derby County on Saturday.

The Yorkshire club impressed with the football they played along with the quick tempo that they maintained throughout.

As well as that, Bielsa had managed to get such results with just one new signing in the team - Barry Douglas.

The likes of Jamal Blackman, Jack Harrison and Bamford, among others, had to wait until last night's Carabao Cup clash against Bolton for their first action, with Leeds winning 2-1.

The much-changed XI still played the same way and Bamford, who scored, told BBC reporter John Bennett what the Argentinian boss has been demanding from his players.

"Just imagine everything is sprinting... You need to be doing EVERYTHING at the fastest possible speed."

Bielsa's side are back in action this weekend against Rotherham as they look to keep up their 100% start under the former Marseille boss.

The Verdict

The new manager deserves enormous credit for the way he has transformed a side that finished in mid-table last season and clearly those methods are working.

As well as that, the players have bought into his ideas and are clearly delivering exactly what he wants.

There are concerns about Bielsa's teams tiring out in the past because of this high-intensity approach that Bamford mentions so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
