Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford maintains that he is willing to play second fiddle to “brilliant” Kemar Roofe for the time being, whilst he settles in at Elland Road.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the 24-year-old centre forward, who joined the Lilywhites earlier in this summer’s transfer window, is willing to bide his time in Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Bamford stated: “He (Roofe) has had the whole of pre-season with the manager, working on his ideas. If anything, bringing in new faces up everyones game and that can only be good for the team.
“He was brilliant at Derby and took his goal brilliantly. I’m happy for him and, as long as he keeps going, the team will do well.
“I know that might mean I have to wait a bit to play but I’m ready whenever.”
Bamford scored his first goal for Leeds United in the Lilywhites League Cup victory over fellow Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
The Verdict
The former Middlesbrough man may be playing back up to Leeds United’s top goal scorer from last season for the coming weeks, but over the season is likely to stake his claim for the starting spot.
Bamford was a fantastic purchase by Marcelo Bielsa, and one that will only have strengthened his side.
Leeds United have started the season with three wins out of three in the league and cup, having found the net a healthy nine times so far.
