Manchester City have completed the season-loan signing of Derby County goalkeeper Scott Carson for the second year running.

Carson has made 171 appearances for Derby since arriving from Wigan Athletic in 2015, but has fallen out of favour at Pride Park.

In the second-half of the 2018/19 season, Kelle Roos moved ahead of Carson and became Derby's number-one under Frank Lampard heading into the play-off campaign.

Quiz: Did these 12 ex-Derby County players actually ever score for the club?

Last summer, the arrival of Ben Hamer on loan from Huddersfield Town saw Carson move down the pecking order, with the 34-year-old sealing a rather surprising move to Manchester City.

The experienced shot-stopper is yet to make an appearance for Pep Guardiola's side, but his experience on the training ground will have been beneficial for the club's younger goalkeepers behind-the-scenes.

Derby have now confirmed that Carson has extended his loan spell at the Etihad Stadium, and he will spend the entirety of the 2020/21 campaign on loan with the Premier League giants.

The Rams may look to bring in another goalkeeper this summer following Hamer's return to Huddersfield, however plenty of fans have reacted to the decision to let Carson join City on loan for another year.
