Many Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been offering their responses to the comments of former player Ross Wallace, over what happened towards the end of Carlos Carvalhal’s time in charge at Hillsborough.

Wallace was an integral part of the Sheffield Wednesday side which managed to play-offs in consecutive seasons under Carvalhal in the 2015/16 season and the 2016/17 seasons, with the winger having made 43 appearances in each of those two campaigns, as the Owls narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

The winger was known for his high work rate and for being able to produce moments of quality to unlock defences in the final third, but Wallace who now plays for Scottish side St Mirren, was just one of the players who suffered a real dip in form during the 2017/18 season, which ultimately led to Carvalhal losing his job at Hillsborough.

Carvalhal enjoyed almost immediate success during his time in charge of Sheffield Wednesday, and he managed to build up a good relationship with the Owls’ supporters during his first two seasons in charge, before things began to turn a little sour in that 2017/18 season where he was eventually replaced in December 2017.

QUIZ: Can you name Sheffield Wednesday’s last 15 managers?

There were many frustrating results and performances which came during the first half of Carvalhal’s final half season in charge, and Wallace speaking to Open Goal revealed a story of what happened when the Portuguese manager attempted to build some bridges in the squad following a run of poor form.

He said: "He (Carvalhal) was fuming, we had a lost a few and we weren't playing good.

"He came in and he had these glasses. He came in, he had them in his pocket. He said, 'today I am finished' and I was like 'yes he's been sacked, I've had enough of him'."

Many Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been angry with those comments and suggesting that Carvalhal had little chance of getting the club to be successful on the pitch when the players were behaving in a poor fashion of the field.

Here then, we take a look at Sheffield Wednesday fans have been saying about Wallace’s comments on social media…
