Birmingham City have endured a simply horrendous start to the Sky Bet Championship season.

The Blues currently languish in 22nd spot in the league table, having amassed a mere eight points from 11 league games.

Steve Cotterill is now at the helm at St Andrew's, and he'll be looking to guide the Blues to victory against top of the league Cardiff City on Friday.

After such a shocking start, the writers here at Football League World have summed up Birmingham's season so far....

Alfie Burns

Pathetic.

The quality of squad at St Andrew’s should not find themselves in the relegation zone.

Harry Redknapp failed to inspire a talented squad, and now Steve Cotterill has been handed the task of guiding the Blues away from the relegation zone.

Picking up victories early will be key for Birmingham under Cotterill, or they could find themselves in another relegation battle.

Chris Gallagher

Could it be any worse?

Blues fans were dreaming of promotion when Harry Redknapp was confirmed as manager. After a dismal start, they said he needed to bring players in. Then, a busy transfer deadline day brought the optimism back.

Since then, we know what’s happened. Already it looks like a season of consolidation and building for next year. It wasn’t supposed to be like this after just eleven games!

George Dagless

Embarrassing.

Birmingham made some good signings in the summer window but things haven't gelled and Harry Redknapp's sacking was unnecessary.

The Blues find themselves in a relegation scrap instead of a top six fight and Steve Cotterill has a lot to do if he is going to salvage something from this already poor-looking campaign.

Adam Simeoni

Disaster.

Poor form, sacking Redknapp...what an absolute shambles.

The 6-1 defeat at Hull before the international break will not have helped matters, and new boss Cotterill has a mammoth task on his hands.

They have been unlucky with injuries however, so I think once key players return to fitness, they'll be just fine.
