Promotion favourites Stoke City were comfortably beaten by Leeds United at Elland Road today, with the Whites running out 3-1 winners.

Marcelo Bielsa's men set about the Potters early on and deservedly took the lead through Mateusz Klich.

Despite spurning several good opportunities, the second goal did come when Jack Butland somehow let Pablo Hernandez's shot through his hands just before the break.

Even though they improved in the second half, Benik Afobe's penalty was almost immediately followed by a Liam Cooper goal that kept Gary Rowett's men two goals down.

It was a fair scoreline in the end that reflected the dominance of the hosts.

All in all, it was a very tough first game for Rowett in charge of the Staffordshire side and there were few positives to take.

Understandably, the manner of the defeat also angered Stoke fans, who shared their feelings on twitter after the game.
