Derby's surge for automatic promotion may have come to a close but the Rams are very much involved in the battle to secure play-off football.

Gary Rowett has assembled a talented squad with the expectation of a top-six finish and the former Birmingham City man will realise that failure to do so could result in his position coming into question.

The distraction of the league campaign has perhaps pushed other matters aside, with the renewal of player contracts an issue that will not be at the forefront of Rowett's mind.

However with several key men's deals set to expire, fans will be growing increasingly concerned that they won't be able to rely on their services next semester...

Ledley was picked up as a free agent earlier in the season following his release from Crystal Palace and has performed well in his debut campaign at Pride Park.

A Welsh international was a plethora of Premier League experience under his belt, Ledley is an important figure in the heart of this Rams side and fans will be desperate to see the player commit to extended terms before the expiration of his current deal but the clock is ticking.

Ledley could still attract suitors from the top-flight and should an offer materialise, he could hardly be blamed for jumping ship.

Those associated with the club will be desperately awaiting the announcement of a new deal.

Despite his ageing years, the 36-year-old Northern Irishman has performed to a remarkable standard throughout his sixteen league starts and is deserved of a further year upon his Derby deal.

Experience is priceless and Baird is arguably one of the wisest men in the Football League following a lengthy career and remains an excellent option to have within a squad.

Versatile and always willing, Baird's quality would see him through another year in the East Midlands but it appears increasingly likely that he will be cut adrift in the summer.

A shame for Rams fans, another club is sure to benefit from his talents.

Rams fans, thoughts?
