Middlesbrough could be set to bring in another attacking player before the transfer window closes, with Oliver Burke said to be on their radar.
Burke has endured a difficult time at Sheffield United since joining the Blades in a swap deal involving Callum Robinson last summer.
The 24-year-old made 25 appearances in the Premier League last term, starting on only 14 occasions and finding the net only once.
Having featured in three of United’s four opening games in the Championship this season, reports from The Sun have claimed that Slavisa Jokanovic is looking to offload the attacker before the window closes.
According to Football Insider, a move to the Riverside could be in the offing, with Boro opening talks to bring the Scotland international to Teesside.
Burke is among a number of attackers on United’s books, so getting him off the wage bill before the end of the transfer window will free up funds for Jokanovic going forward.
Middlesbrough, meanwhile, have recently seen Chuba Akpom return to Greek side PAOK, and they also let Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher depart at the end of last season.
Here, we take a look at Boro fans’ reactions to Burke’s arrival…
If he comes with with an agreement from Wilder that he'll manage us going forward next season then i'd take it all day 🤣.Sheff Utd paid under 6mil for him and has delivered goal/assist in only 10% of games, good age but if we're offering more than 3mil i'd be dissapointed. #Boro

Why do we do this every summer? Panic buy imo

He’s worth a punt if it’s relatively cheap, talent is definitely there

I’d rather play an academy lad, his goals record is awful

Wanted the club to sign him for the last 6 windows…given a run he can be quality

Permanent? Hopefully not, maybe a loan with a view to buy in the future would make more sense, spending money outright this window on a player like that makes no sense to me, but here we go again. https://t.co/30uBSk5FwA
